4. Special Procedures, Private Procedures and Circle to Land: What’s in Your
Navigation Database?    Back to Top
Universal Avionics’ navigation database contains Instrument Approach Procedures (IAP) that are not published as part of the standard chart set. Conversely, operators may have noticed approach types missing from the database. While navigation data tends to be standard industry-wide, there are exceptions; as discussed in this pdf.

9. I've loaded the new navdata update, but the FMS still shows the old expiration date?    Back to Top
UNS-1C, -1D and -1K FMSs have dual navdata memory locations--to hold current (active) and past/future (inactive) navdata. If you are loading navdata that has a future effective date (or a past expiration date), it is loaded into the FMSs "Inactive" memory. The FMS automatically activates this new data the first time the FMS is started after 0901Z on the effective date.

10. I did not get a "Check All" prompt after loading the new navdata (UNS-1C, -1D or -1K)    Back to Top
The "Check All" prompt will only appear if the new navdata is being loaded into the "ACTIVE MEMORY." This occurs only if the current date is within the navdata's 28 day effective period.

If you load navdata before it's effective date, it is loaded into "INACTIVE" memory. When you are done loading, the FMS will prompt for "Load Next" and "Return."

14. How do I fly an arrival that ends with a VM leg?    Back to Top
Flying arrivals with a vector to manually terminated leg (VM) may require a variation to normal procedures. One example of this is Arrivals in Canada that contain a Downwind Termination Waypoint (DTW).
