Universal Avionics holds a current Type 2 Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This letter indicates Universal’s navigation database processes for Flight Management Systems (FMS) with software control number (SCN) 601.x/701.x and later are compliant with RTCA DO-200A/ED-76, Standards for Processing Aeronautical Data and FAA Advisory Circular (AC) 20-153, Acceptance of Data Processes and Associated Navigation Databases. This Type 2 LOA does not include databases created from Navtech, Inc. (Navtech) source data.
Universal Avionics receives navigation data from multiple data suppliers: specifically, Jeppesen Sanderson, Inc (Jeppesen), Navtech, and FAA National Aeronautical Navigation Services (AeroNav Services) (formerly FAA NACO).
Jeppesen is the holder of a current Type 1 LOA from both the FAA and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
Navtech is the holder of a current Type 1 LOA from EASA. The Universal Avionics Type 2 LOA currently does not apply to any database created with Navtech data.
FAA AeroNav Services is a State aeronautical information service (AIS); therefore, is not required to supply UASC with assurance of RCTA/DO-200A compliance.
The navigation databases may also contain customer tailored data not originating from a state authority, such as private airports and runways or private arrival or departure procedures. The end user has the responsibility to verify the suitability of this data for the intended operation.
While every effort is made to ensure that the stored data is accurate, it is the user’s responsibility and prerogative to reference appropriate NOTAMS, as well as Jeppesen NavData Change Notices and NavData Alerts, Navtech bulletins, FAA alerts, and other applicable publications in order to verify the accuracy of the data to be used.
The end user has the ultimate responsibility to ensure data requirements are met and to verify the navdata loaded in their FMS is current and valid for the intended operation. If an error or inconsistency is discovered, the end user should notify Jeppesen, Navtech, or Universal Avionics for resolution. |
