Tucson, AZ – July 1, 2008 – Ray Miller has been promoted to Vice President and General Manager of Universal Avionics System Corporation’s Instrument Division, located in Duluth, GA. In this new position, Mr. Miller will oversee all engineering design and certification activities of the company’s line of flat panel integrated display systems, engine interface units and control panels.
With over 28 years of experience, Mr. Miller brings a great deal of industry knowledge of both military and commercial applications as well as extensive experience managing the vast product line of Universal’s Instrument Division.
“Universal’s business is growing rapidly and we need proven leaders with a track record of managing and executing high growth strategies,” said Paul DeHerrera, Universal’s COO. “We now have a world-class management team to lead the avionics industry with the addition of Ray.”
Mr. Miller’s most recent position at Universal has been as General Manager of Instrument Division. In that role, he oversaw all aspects of operations, objectives, strategic initiatives and business development efforts. During his six year tenure as General Manager, Mr. Miller was the lead on numerous projects including development of flat panel LCD displays for Part 23 & 25 aircraft. He provided guidance and strategic planning for Instrument Division regarding its move into larger facilities in Duluth, GA as well as proposals and business development activities associated with Universal’s technical business base. In his 11 year tenure with Universal, Mr. Miller has held positions as Director of Product Development and Director of Program Management, Instrument Division.
Prior to joining Universal in 1997, Mr. Miller worked at Harris Corporation as an Electrical Engineer and at Loral Corporation (now L-3 Communications) in various engineering and management roles. He holds a Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering degree from Clemson University in South Carolina.
