Tucson, Arizona – November 7, 2005 - Universal Avionics announced that their dealer in Van Nuys, CA; IFR Avionics has been awarded a contract to complete and certify, a 4-panel Universal Avionics EFI-890R display suite on a Gulfstream G-III; the first on this type of aircraft.
Jim Lauer, President of IFR stated: “We choose the Universal 890R Flat Panel Display package due to it’s advanced features, flexibility in integrating with existing systems and because of the competitive price it offers our Gulfstram customers.”
Universal Avionics Vision-1 and TAWS-A will be certified as part of the package. Universal's UCDs (Universal Cockpit Displays) and RCUs (Radio Control Units) will also be made available.
IFR has contracted AES in Tucson, AZ to provide the engineering and certification effort. Work will start in mid-December 2005 once the STC plan is approved by the FAA. Jim indicated that IFR’s STC once completed, will be available for sale to other Universal qualified dealers.
The EFI-890R product development began in late 1999. It is marketed for forward and retrofit applications. The EFI-890R has an 8.9-inch diagonal display for Primary Flight Display (PFD) and Navigation Display (ND) applications and supports existing analog and digital aircraft systems. The EFI-890R has superior sunlight readability and is available in 2-, 3- and 4-Unit suites with a 3-year product warranty. |
