Tucson, AZ -March 4, 2005 - Universal Avionics Systems Corporation announced today Premier Air Center has successfully completed ground & flight testing of a complete flight deck upgrade in a Falcon 20, which included four EFI-890R Flat Panel Displays, and has received Federal Aviation Administration STC (Supplemental Type Certificate) approval.
This approval marks the first STC for an end customer and supplements the two STC’s in 3rd and 4th quarter of 2004 for a Part 23 B-350 King Air and Part 25 Challenger CL-601-3A respectively.
“We chose to market Universal’s 890R displays for our Falcon 20 retrofit program because of large customer interest, competitive pricing and their ability to display moving maps, weather, terrain, real time video, and synthetic vision”, stated Lamont Durante, Director of Avionics Sales & Programs.
The Falcon 20 EFI-890R installation and certification was conducted at the Premier Air Center in East Alton, Illinois, on the outskirts of St. Louis. The Chicago ACO (Aircraft Certification Office) and AEG (Aircraft Evaluation Group) out of Seattle, Washington have flown off the Falcon 20 and had no issues. The installation includes Universal Avionics Dual UNS-1F Flight Management Systems, Class “A” TAWS, (Terrain Awareness System), Dual Vision-1 Synthetic Vision Systems and UniLink. The displays are fully integrated with the Collins FCS-105 Flight Director / Autopilots and J2 Aero Air Data Computers and the aircraft is being flown for RVSM approval. Dual Collins AHS, Honeywell Primus 880 Radar and TCAS II are also integrated with the displays.
The EFI-890R product development began in late 1999. It is marketed for forward and retrofit applications. The EFI-890R has an 8.9-inch diagonal display for Primary Flight Display (PFD) and Navigation Display (ND) applications and supports existing analog and digital aircraft systems. The EFI-890R has superior sunlight readability and is available in 2-, 3- and 4-Unit suites with a 3-year product warranty.
