  • ADS-B Out Failure Annunciations Required for Part 23 and 25 Aircraft

    The FAA has announced that Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS–B) Out failure annunciations in the flight deck are required for Part 23 and Part 25 aircraft. The latest Universal Avionics Flight Management System (FMS) Software, Version SCN 1001.2/1101.2/1101.2M, includes messaging to alert crews of a failure of the ADS-B Out or transponder system. With this functionality built into the SCN, the upgrade relieves the need to install an additional failure annunciator in the instrument panel.

  • LP Level of Service with SBAS-FMSs

    In Navigation Database Cycle 1709 (released in August 2017), Localizer Performance (LP) approaches were added to the navigation data for all SBAS-FMS UNS-1()w subscriptions. The addition of these approaches apply to FMS Software Version SCN 1002.X/1102.X, which supports LP approach and minima.
